Perspective
Before getting into today's post, I wanted to express my feelings about my intentions of this Blog. I understand that there are many people who read this blog with many different lifestyles, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds. As easy as it is to tune out of my "Mormon" related posts, I want to challenge you to look deeper into what I am sharing, and focus on the principal that I am sharing. Then, I challenge you to apply it into your own life.
My husband and I were very fortunate to have been able to listen to some pretty amazing speakers this last Sunday at Church. The words from these speakers, inspiration from the Spirit, and thoughts that came to my mind have made a very big influence on the lessons that I received this past weekend. I developed a whole different outlook on the challenges in my life and how they can instantly become a little easier by simply changing ONE thing. Perspective.
There were three, very powerful comments that were said.
1. "All of these experiences are for your own good and development."
2. "They are no longer my trials and tribulations, but now my learning experiences."
3. "They are no longer my challenges or weaknesses, but now a development opportunity."
How powerful, am I right? But as inspiring as it was to hear, I had another thought. There are so many inspiring words that I have heard and read, but how many of them have I actually applied into my own life? None. So I decided to start now and put the inspiration from these three comments to the test!
I got out a piece of paper, and drew a line in the middle. On one half, I wrote the challenges, struggles, and weaknesses that I carry in my life. From something I am currently facing to things that have happened years ago. On the other half, I wrote down the words "lesson learned". This is the section that was a little difficult. It is hard finding positivity through things in life that seem like nothing but a burden. But look deeper into your life, and focus on the perspective that you carry. It may take time (it most certainly did for me) , but once you are finished, you will be surprised.
When I completed this challenge, I couldn't help but become emotional. It was absolutely shocking to notice that the lessons and strengths that I gained were BECAUSE of the challenges and weaknesses that I have carried throughout my life. Perspective truly is everything, you guys! It will not fix your problems immediately, but it will most certainly change the way you go through them and even change the outcome.
What things in your life are you currently struggling with? Is there anything from your past that you are struggling to work through? What perspective do you currently have and how can changing that affect them? I challenge you to get out a piece of paper and apply the same test that I did, but to your own life!
Life can be so HARD at times, but how amazing is it that we were created to get through it!? We were given these difficulties and trials to gain knowledge, strength, compassion, and even love! It is easy to be angry, bitter, and disappointed in the life or position that we find ourselves in, but once you reach the finish line, look at how far you have come!
You can do this. We all can.
