Lesson Learned, Challenge Accepted!
Every General Conference weekend, my family and I have the tradition of making breakfast in the morning and watching conference together in the living room. Well, this weekend was a little different. To make a very long story short, I faced a few unexpected and very difficult trials this weekend. Because of this, I allowed myself to sleep in during both morning sessions and only sat through the last two talks during the Sunday afternoon session. Although I only listened to those two speakers, I learned a very valuable and intriguing lesson that I was not expecting.
I learned that while going through unexpected trials and struggles in life, it is important to remember what is of real importance in life. I allowed myself to recover from the shock that I had faced, but I forgot to remember that the true place that I can find comfort and recovery is by turning to Him. I didn't allow myself to remember the strong and impacting spirit that I felt last week during the General Women's Broadcast. Instead, I allowed myself to believe that General Conference is every six months and that I can listen next time.
Well, while listening to the last two speakers, I had the most compelling feeling that I should listen to conference. But how could I? Conference is already over! That is why I feel so unbelievably blessed to have a Church that uses all of it's resources and gives every single one of us the full ability to use them! On lds.org , you are able to read, watch, and listen to all of the talks from this weekend's General Conference.
If you missed General Conference this weekend, or even if you missed a few speakers because that couch and cozy blanket were a little too comfy, I invite you to accept the challenge that I decided to set for myself. I invite you to read one to two talks from General Conference a day until you complete General Conference. I urge you to begin those talks with a prayer and maybe even a question that you may have in mind. I had a very big prompting that if this challenge was completed with true intent, that I would be blessed and be able to take several lessons from this weekend. I believe that if you decide to accept his challenge too, that you will also be blessed.

Although I was unable to participate the way I wished this weekend during conference, I would still like to share my Testimony with you, because I feel it is important to share
I have a firm testimony that General Conference is one of the most important church activities for us to attend, even while at home. I know that I missed out on an amazing conference and that I should have taken the time to listen. I know that the words that are spoken are by divine inspiration from the Spirit of God. The leaders of this church love us and they are worthy to lead us. I know that if we take our own personal time to reflect on what we learned and catch up on the talks that we missed, that we will be inspired. I know that the Adversary uses every tool possible to make us to feel that General Conference is not important, and that we have more important things to do or work on. I know that if we decide to put the Church first, that we will be blessed by placing our faith in the front of our "to-do" list. I am thankful for lds.org and for the opportunity that we have been given to listen and read General Conference talks at any hour of the day.
I am excited for this challenge and I look forward to see where it will take us!
