A Look Inside Mormon Temples.
As most of you probably know by now, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Most commonly known as Mormon. I have shared many experiences and, I believe, have been very open about my love for the Church and it's teachings. One thing that I believe I have also shared my love for is the Temple.
There are many articles and church talks given about the Mormon Temples and what goes on inside, and although I would love to share, I do not believe I would do it justice. So I will share a link below this post of a video by James the Mormon describing the importance of LDS Temples and what ordinances happen inside. (Link on bottom)
I find that one misunderstanding that the world has when it comes to these Holy Temples is that it is believed to be a secret. When, in reality, the Temple is open to anyone in this world. Anyone who decides to takes the proper steps to be worthy to perform these sacred ordinances (Baptism, Gift of the Holy Ghost, Worthiness). A good way that my husband explained it to me when we were first dating is an example he took from the Bible. Jesus said not to cast pearls before swine. Pearls are precious, and I know we can all agree that it would be extremely foolish to throw them away to a herd of pigs. Putting this example into today's world, as members of the Church, we see the sacred teachings and ordinances of the Temple as our pearls and the world, as the swine. Now, do not be mistaken. I am NOT calling the world and non-members swine. (Because there is always that small population of folks who look for ways to be offended) I am trying to share the fact that we are not going to throw something so sacred, special, and holy to our church, to people who are nothing but determined to speak poorly about the church. We protect it, shielding it from those who are not ready to hear or see what occurs inside.
I was actually one of those individuals who felt confused and at times, offended as to why I wasn't able to know everything. (Yes, not even members of the Church know everything until the time is right.) However, after going through this past year and having my own personal and very spiritual experiences, I have come to a very sincere love for the Temple as well as a complete understanding as to why not everything is shared to the world. I was not ready, and I understand why those things were not shared to me until they were. In the state of mind I had while being away from Church, I would not have spoken about the sacred things of the Church they way they are expected, and supposed to be spoken about.
I have been immensely blessed to have experienced the blessings of the Temple very early in my life by being sealed to my family for eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. As I have received my own endowments this year, I have again felt those blessings from the Temple on my life in a different, and more personal way. Because of the Temple and sacred ordinances performed inside, I was able to also be sealed to my husband and future children. I am sealed to them not only in this life, but beyond that. I am so thankful to have a Temple so close to home that I am able to feel and experience those constant blessings, miracles, and comforts that come from attending the Temple.
Lastly, I wanted to express to you all that I am not writing this post to try to convert, or speak poorly about other churches. (Especially when most of my closest friends are all from such different religions and beliefs.) However, after living without the gospel for 2 years, going back to church, and going through the Temple myself to understand and witness the amazing and such sacred blessings, that this Church is beautiful. It is infinite. and it is so unbelievably true. I wanted to share this post to express that nothing about this Church is "secret" or being held away from the world. It is actually very open to everyone. Everyone who accepts it.
The Temple gates are usually open all the time, so everyone is able to walk the Temple grounds. I invite you to go to the nearest Temple to you and walk the grounds to see the beauty that each Temple has, but also to feel the huge amount of peace that being there brings.
